Best brunches West Sussex

There’s no better way to start the day than with a brilliant brunch with views and vibes. With countryside, castles and coastline on offer, West Sussex has a plethora of awesome breakfast options. And if you fancy, you can start your day with coffee and end up with cocktails! Here’s our curated list of the best brunch spots in Sussex compiled by Team Kinsbrook.

the pig

Madehurst, Arundel BN18 0NL.

The latest opening from The PIG - THE PIG in the South Downs is one not to be missed for one of the best brunches around. You will eat in a traditional greenhouse restaurant surrounded by a higgledy-piggledy collection of traditional brick, flint and timber clad Sussex stable yard buildings. Stay in the hotel or book a table for brunch. Not one for the veggie’s out there, The Full Pig-Out comes with middle cut bacon, sausage, black & white puddings, mushrooms, grilled tomato & eggs how you like them. Or for the more-environmental version go for the smashed peas on SøDT donker rye bread, crushed with lemon & chilli and topped with poached eggs. Just divine!

Joanna's Boutique Tearooms

River House, 34 High St, Storrington, RH20 4DU. 9am-4pm all days, closed Sundays.

With soft pink décor, fine china and glass chandeliers you’ll enjoy your elegant breakfast at Joanna’s. Sit in the courtyard and indulge with their Garden Breakfast. You won’t need to eat for the rest of the day as it comes with free range eggs of your choice, mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, baked beans, crispy rosemary potatoes, avocado with a hint of chilli and black pepper and halloumi served with sourdough toast.

Spring Gardens Nursery

Washington, West Sussex RH20 3BS. Monday-Saturday 9.30am-3.30pm, closed Sunday

Have breakfast in a Victorian greenhouse on farmland at the foot of the south downs at Spring Gardens Nursery. Thumbs up to their Breakfast Pitta - scrambled egg and bacon in a locally produced pitta bread. Plus there’s a farm shop with local produce to explore afterwards.

Rockwater

Western Esplanade, Hove BN3 4FA. Open 7 days a week 7am–12am.

Want breakfast with a view? Head to Rockwater in Hove for the ultimate brunch destination. You can start your day with a coffee and stay for cocktails! Their Smoked Salmon or Strawberry & Almond Pancakes at the Rooftop terrace are our faves.

oeuf

8 Third Ave, Hove BN3 2PX. Open 7 days a week 9am-4pm.

How about cozy candle lit breakfast vibes, or a secret garden to welcome the start of your day…look no further than Oeuf. Go for their Frumpets - a stack of three french toast battered crumpets. Or their Oeuf & Surf - Fresh Crab on Sourdough Drizzled With Brown Butter Sauce and Topped With A Poached Egg. It would be Oeuf not to!

the new club

133-134 Kings Rd, Brighton BN1 2HH.
Mon – Weds  – CLOSED. Thurs & Friday – 10am-4pm/5pm-9pm. Sat – 9am-9pm Sun – 9am-3pm.

Inspired by the NYC brunch scene, this well-known Brighton seafront American diner restaurant offers exciting brunch and dinner menus, hangover cures and innovative seasonal ‘plates’! Say YES to their Mexican eggs with sriracha, mixed cheese, caramelized corn, pepper & tomato salsa, sour cream, spring onion, house pickled jalapeño and crispy corn tortillas. It would be rude to not order a Bloody Mary to wash it down with.

the hungry guest

Newlands House Gallery, Pound Street, Petworth, GU28 0DX. Open: Monday – Saturday 9am – 5pm. Sundays 10am – 4pm.

Passionate about seasonal, locally available, fresh and artisanal food, The Hungry Guest puts the market back into a market town with a cafe, shop, bakery, fish shop and butchery. With a new cafe location, set in the beautiful Newlands House Gallery you can’t go wrong with their Smashed Avocado, Smoked Salmon on Sourdough Toast.

cowdray cafe

Cowdray Park, Cowdray Farm Shop & Cafe, Midhurst GU29 0AJ. Open 8.00 - 5.00pm Monday to Saturday 9.00 - 5.00pm Sundays.

Why not have brunch in one of England’s most important early Tudor houses, visited by King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth. Set in beautiful grounds the cafe which is open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea has a menu offering dishes and ingredients from local suppliers. For a winter warmer, we loved their Cowdray porridge with a mixed berry compote or banana and Brazil nuts.

the lobster pot

Canning Rd, Bognor Regis PO22 7AF. Open 7 days a week 8am-7pm.

Watch the world go by as you’re sat right on the beach at this unique spot for brunch at Felpham. The all-day eatery serves daytime light bites and unfussy dinner dishes with local seafood options. We vote going for the lobster roll…When in Rome!
