Chardonnay / Oaked Chardonnay

The first wine in our 2024 series, ‘One’ combines 70% unoaked with 30% oaked Chardonnay. We really believe in the power of oaking, especially in vintages such as 2024, which was the second-most challenging farming year on record. Although the Spring was mild and fair, in the early Summer the rain started - and didn’t stop. That harvest, most of our fruit was destined for sparkling wine production, however, there were some parcels that defied the odds and were able to make exceptional still wine. We decided to make a standalone series of three still wines, each playing with different winemaking techniques.
‘One’ is designed to showcase the beauty of oaking and MLF; when used subtly, these techniques bring a rich, mellow quality to the wine. Think toasted nuts and light, golden kiwi.
